Tracks explained
Foundation, grammar, kanji, and vocab tracks.
1 min read
A track is one path through Japanese. You can follow several at once and switch whenever you like.
- Fondasi teaches kana and the absolute basics, a gentle first step.
- The Kanji track builds character recognition, level by level.
- The Vocab track grows the words you can read and use.
- The JLPT tracks (N5 and up) follow the official exam levels.
Gating reads the JLPT level a track is built on, not its name. Fondasi rests on no level at all, so it is open to everyone on every plan.
The N5 strands come with N5
The Kanji and Vocab tracks are both N5-based, so a free account gets all three N5 tracks, not just the grammar one. There is no separate purchase for a strand.
Some tracks are free for everyone. The JLPT levels follow your plan, so free covers N5 and higher plans unlock more.
