What is locked and why
Levels, caps, and how to unlock more.

Some content waits until you are ready or on a higher plan. Locked items are never hidden, so nothing is a surprise.
Access has two dimensions, the JLPT level you can reach, and how much of each level is open. A locked item is an invitation, not a wall.
Locked never means hidden
A capped item still appears in the list, with the reason it is closed and the plan that opens it. You are never shown a blank space or a bare error, so you can always tell the difference between content that does not exist and content you have not unlocked.
Locked items show as previews you can unlock, never a blank or an error.
