XP, streaks, and the goal
How progress is measured and protected.

Almost everything you do pays XP. Your goal turns that XP into a streak, and a streak is the one thing here that can be lost.
The default goal is 20 XP a day, which one lesson or a short review session clears. The first time today's XP reaches your goal you get a one-time 15 XP bonus and the day counts toward your streak. You can change the target in Settings under Learning.
Days end at midnight UTC
The day boundary is UTC, not your local midnight. Depending on where you live, your study day can roll over in the middle of your afternoon or late at night. If your streak has ever ended on a day you thought you studied, this is usually why.
A freeze is a spare day. It is spent for you, automatically, the first time you study after a missed day, and it keeps the streak intact.
- You start with none. One is earned each time your streak reaches 7, 14, 30, 60, 100, 180, or 365 days.
- You can hold three at most. Reaching a milestone while already holding three does not add a fourth.
- There is no counter to check and no button to press. Freezes are invisible and entirely automatic.
What a missed day actually costs
With a freeze banked, nothing: the streak continues. With none, the streak resets to 1 on your next study day, not to 0. Your XP, level, words, and review schedule are never touched by a missed day.
Your goal is a floor, not a target. Lowering it to something you can hit on a bad day protects the streak better than an ambitious number you miss.
